Do I have to use the tow company the police call?
No. If your vehicle is drivable off the scene, or the scene is already clear, you are free to call whoever you want — and you decide where the vehicle goes afterwards. If a rotation wrecker has already hooked it, ask us and we will tell you honestly what your options are.
Who decides which body shop my car goes to?
You do. Not us and not your insurer. Name the shop and that is where we take it. If you have not decided yet we can take it somewhere secure and you can sort the shop out when you are not standing at the roadside.
Will you give me paperwork for the claim?
Yes. You get an itemized receipt showing the date, where we picked the vehicle up, where we took it, and the hook-up and mileage broken out separately — which is what an adjuster needs before they will reimburse you.
What should I do while I wait?
If the vehicle is drivable and it is safe, get it onto the shoulder and out of the traffic lane. Then get yourself behind a barrier or well off the road — not standing beside the car. Put the hazards on and stay on the phone with us if you would rather not wait alone.
